Enjoy our monthly meetings.

We are a friendly society who offer a big welcome to new members.

The membership subscripton is £18.00 per year and covers a single or double membership for a couple living at the same address. We meet ten times a year at the Royal Horticultural Society gardens at Harlow Carr Harrogate in the modern facilites of the Bramall Learning Centre the remainder of the meetings are held Beckwithshaw Village Hall. One meeting consists of a field trip to see orchids growing in the wild.There is no meeting in December and we hold our  annual lunch in January.

Please bring your plants for the usual table displey.


There will be a discussion hosted by one of our members about the table display.

Annual Show


Our annual show will be held at the Pavilions in Harrogate at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, HG2 8QZ to be held on

Sunday 25th February 2018

 opening times 10.30am to 4.00pm

There will be orchid plants for sale, orchid sundries and craft stalls.

Orchids for everyone weekend

Organised by The Harrogate Orchid Society

in conjunction with the RHS Harlow Carr Garden;


Due to the tremendous success of the 2016 weekend

this event is being held on the 5th and 6th August 2017

opening times 10.00am-4.00pm

Once again there will be visiting Orchid Societies and plants for sale

To be held at the Royal Horticultural Gardens, Harlow Carr, Harrogate


A range of beautiful orchids will be displayed at the Royal Horticultural Societys (RHS) most northerly garden over the weekend 5th and 6th August 2017, allowing visitors the chance to see a large range of varieties all under one roof.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Harrogate will host the weekend, where members of the Harrogate Orchid Society and visiting societies will be showcasing their prized specimens; and will include varieties not found in garden centres or shops. The Harrogate Orchid Society will also be running a number of potting demonstrations throughout the weekend  and offering expert advice to help beginners get started with growing these elegant plants.


Two orchid traders will be on site offering for sale unusual and exotic orchids.

As well as holding potting demonstrations and experts offering advice, we,ll also be helping with problem, plants, and visitors are welcome to bring along their orchids for inspection and advice.

Thank you for visiting our web site. Perhaps you have just bought your first orchid or have been given one as a present, you may have a few on your window or you may be an experienced grower with a number of years experience. What ever your interest in orchids this society will be pleased to welcome you. Why not come to one or two of our meeting, you do not need to join the society initially to do this.




 What are the benefits of joining the Harrogate Orchid Society?

Advice will be available on how to care for your plant’s and dealing with pests and diseases.


We have visiting speakers. 


Two plant forums are held each year and include demonstrations on how and when to repot orchids.


Included in your subscription is free use of our extensive library which contains over one hundred titles ranging from books suitable for orchid growers just starting in the hobby and others who specialise in one or two genera. 

The society also attends and exhibits at about eight orchid shows a year. At the shows there is an;opportunity to buy orchid plants potting composts etc.

This web site includes a list of the meetings for the year, all you need to do is to come to either the Bramall Learning Centre situated in the Royal Horticultural Society Gardens at Harlow Carr Harrogate, access is through the green gate near the Learning Centre follow the path to the building and the meeting is held on the first floor, or come to one of our meetings at Beckwithshaw Village Hall.
